Penasco storm damage tops 8M pesos, repairs might take 4 months

Now that authorities have had time to assess the damage from the recent storm, the total cost of repairs is being estimated at over 8 million pesos. The government immediately earmarked $300,000 pesos of that to help needy families repair their homes.
 
362 volunteers, many of them city employees, joined bomberos, the red cross, and others as they personally went out to evaluate the affected homes and help determine the best use for those funds.
 
City equipment was dispatched to remove 1, 542,000 liters of standing water in various parts of Puerto Penasco, which in addition to creating a dangerous situation for vehicles, was also a possible health risk.
